Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Dashrath Prasad Singh Institute of Health Education (DPSIHE) has been constituted in accordance with the **Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act)**. The Committee is dedicated to providing a safe working and learning environment for all female employees and students.


Mandate and Objectives

The primary mandate of the ICC is to:

  • Prevent instances of sexual harassment in the college premises.
  • Receive, inquire into, and redress complaints of sexual harassment from any aggrieved woman (student or employee).
  • Recommend appropriate action against the accused party based on the findings of the inquiry.
  • Organize awareness programs to educate all employees and students about the policy against sexual harassment.

Definition of Sexual Harassment (as per POSH Act)

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behavior (whether directly or by implication) such as:

  1. Physical contact and advances.
  2. A demand or request for sexual favors.
  3. Making sexually coloured remarks.
  4. Showing pornography.
  5. Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

Composition of the ICC

The Committee is headed by a Presiding Officer who is a senior female employee, with members drawn to meet the statutory requirement of having over half of the members as women, and including an external member:

Complaint Procedure and Confidentiality

  • Any aggrieved woman may make a complaint in writing to the ICC within a period of **three months** from the date of the incident.
  • The complaint must contain details of the sexual harassment.
  • All proceedings of the ICC are strictly **confidential**. Any breach of confidentiality by a committee member or complainant may attract disciplinary action.
